The other day someone on my project team thought they were putting together a communications plan when all they came to the table with was a list of communications vehicles. I took the opportunity to teach them about the framework of a real comm plan (objectives, audiences, key messages, etc...)

The other area of education is developing competence within an organisation. As a professional communicator you need to be able to work directly with the line managers/leaders to ensure they have the competence and skills to manage communications with their people in an effective manner.
